QSL Label Printer Issues
Release date 05/15/2014
Operation system Windows 8.1. 64 bit
Printer Brother QL-570 & QL-700 with labels DK-11201
Label Printing Issue still with HRD v6.2 RC 2 – 267
I’m still having issues printing QSL labels with the latest release. I was hoping that this would have been
sorted with this latest release Version 22.214.171.1241.
OK here are the problem issues I have found when trying to print labels.
Deleting the LabelDefs.xml has no effect.
In Logbook – Print Setup. If you have more than one printer on your system your selection is not saved and next time you start the logbook program the setting reverts to the computers selected default printer not
In Logbook – Print Labels – Print Tab - Selecting Label Printer. This does not save the selected printer if more than one printer is installed on the computer. The selection field always reverts back to the computers
default printer each time the print labels are selected from start-up. My label printer is not the default
File – Print Labels – Print Tab – select my label printer (QL-570 or QL 700 which is a single label printer) – the
right label section shows 4 labels where it should be one.
When I try to print an Address or QSL label I see at the top of the window “Labels (Not Responding)” the
window greys out and locks up the logbook program and I have to restart the logbook program again to use it.
When you open active printers is showing that it is spooling continues.
I have copied the old settings from version v126.96.36.199 release 6.1.4 that works on my Windows 8.1. 64 bit.
When v6.2 RC 2 – 267 version of the program with these settings entered still have the same issue.
I seem to remember that there were issues with HRD some time ago regards the US and UK windows installation. I wonder if this is happening here.
I have tried installing over the old versions and uninstalled everything and installed the latest version and this does not resolve the issue with Version 188.8.131.521.
I can still only run v184.108.40.206 release 6.1.4 on the computer when installed to enable me to have the label
I don’t think it’s the printer driver as it worked with v220.127.116.11 release 6.1.4 and other programs that use the printer so I assume that this is OK.
If any of the HRD programmers need a computer with the Brother QL-700 printer attached with the DK-11201 labels to experiment I will be very happy to give them full control of the computer via remote access.

If you're up to reinstalling 6.2 again, I suggest backing up your logbook, and saving your settings per the Archive function as detailed in the HRD Manual. Once that is complete, rename or delete the folder C:\Program Data\HRDLLC and reinstall HRD 6.2. That will force HRD to use default settings for labels and
may resolve your printer issues.

As you asked me to do I did uninstall my old version (18.104.22.168) from my computer and done a fresh of HRD
22.214.171.1241 but it was no good as it made any difference.
I also checked my Brother Ql-700 printer driver was up to date; it was as I checked on the Brother website.
Deleting the LabelDefs.xml has no effect. When you open active printers is showing that it is spooling continues. When I try to print an Address or QSL label I see at the top of the window “Labels (Not Responding)” the window greys out and locks up the logbook program and I have to restart the logbook program again to use it.
I have tried all that I can.
I know what I am at, as I am a computer tech and fix Home computer for a living.
There seems to be something wrong with the HRD label printing. If any of the HRD programmers need a computer with the Brother QL-700 printer attached with the DK-11201 labels to experiment I will be very happy to give them full control of the computer via remote access.
Just let me know and I will take 126.96.36.199 off again and put 188.8.131.521 for them to work at. I have Skype and TeamViewer on my pc.
