|Summary||0002608: Logbook Filter: populate selection pulldown for choosable fields|
Some columns in the Logbook database have known, finite lists of valid values. When such a column is selected, the logbook filter UI could populate those values for the user.
|Steps To Reproduce||1) Fire up the Logbook application|
2) Open your favorite database
3) Press the "Filter" button on the toolbar to show the Filter UI
4) Mark the first "Field" checkbox
5) In the dropdown, select "QSL received"
6) Select "Equals"
7) Note the "Value" field is blank.

I've related this to bug 2236, which first suggested the cleanup of the "Y/N" filters.
The challenge is that, while we think there should be a limited set of values in certain fields, there are not: very little validation is done on data in the logbook database. Values in the "Sent" or "Received" fields, for example, might be "Y", "Yes", "N", "No", or blank (NULL). Presenting the user with a dropdown with five choices would be pretty confusing.
Maybe we can work something out where selecting "Y" and "N" is possible, then the program searches for ("Yes" OR "Y"), for example.
Or, maybe we need to initiate a complete overhaul of the logbook, get the data cleaned-up nice, and then we can have nicer things in many different areas.
