Summary0003074: HRD documentation website is not a Wiki, isn't kept current
DescriptionA wiki is a website which allows users to collaborate on the content of the site.

Welcome to the Ham Radio Deluxe Wiki. The purpose of this wiki is to provide an online user guide that is always up-to-date. Unlike printed copies of manuals, this source can be updated whenever things change about Ham Radio Deluxe software or when errors are found. The site claims that it's "always up-to-date", but there are significant problems with content currency in the documentation.

The claims the site makes about currency and printing should be toned-down. If we'd like to use a Wiki to publish our own documentation, we can do so--but it doesn't seem like a very good idea to let our user-base, at large, edit the source of our documentation.
Steps To Reproduce1) Visit https://wiki.hamradiodeluxe.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

The page says:

"Welcome to the Ham Radio Deluxe Wiki. The purpose of this wiki is to provide an online user guide that is always up-to-date. Unlike printed copies of manuals, this source can be updated whenever things change about Ham Radio Deluxe software or when errors are found."

There's no way to create an account, therefore no way to edit pages.

It's not so much a "wiki", as it is a means to provide an online manual. So it's an online manual that is delivered using MediaWiki.

There is no intention to enable collaboration with the user community in this manual. There's some possibility that we can open it up to other members of the staff to update - provided they can learn the syntax for formatting text in MediaWiki.

It will be updated as often as time will allow, or when major question arise. I'm open to volunteers. But we can't afford to pay someone to maintain documentation.
